Viral Shah Lab Physiologic Regeneration

Yohana is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota and moved to Massachusetts in 2021. She earned her B.S. in Biology and Public Health from Brandeis University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Development and Education at Harvard. Yohana began working with Dr. Shah through the Massachusetts General Hospital Biomedical Research Internship, participating in both the 2023 and 2024 cohorts. A year later, she defended her senior thesis under Dr. Shah’s mentorship, “Defining the Development of Hillocks in Postnatal Mice,” receiving highest honors for her work. Building upon that project, Yohana was awarded the 2025 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Student Traineeship to continue investigating the biology of ionocytes and hillocks under Dr. Shah’s mentorship. Outside of the lab, Yohana enjoys cake decorating, hiking, and spending time with her cat, Ooli. Yohana is stepping away from the lab to pursue PA school.
